The waist was reduced more than 5 inches despite the patient being extremely small to begin. It is important to realize that liposuction only removes fat and does not alter the underlying musculoskeletal system. Bones and muscle remain the same and thus some patients can only be reduced to a limited extent, particularly if there is a limited amount of fat to be liposuctioned.
