Tone Your Thighs with a Thigh Lift

Have you recently lost a lot of weight, but you find that you’re still left with loose and flabby thighs? A thighplasty, more popularly known as a thigh lift, can help you achieve well-toned thighs that are more proportional to your overall body frame.

Are You a Good Thigh Lift Candidate?

You will make a good thigh lift candidate if:

  • You can maintain a consistent body weight that does not fluctuate often
  • You are not planning on getting pregnant in the near future
  • You are a non-smoker or you are prepared to quit
  • You have loose soft tissue on your inner or outer thigh regions
  • You are bothered by visible cellulite and excess sagging skin on thighs
  • Your thighs look out of proportion with the rest of your body

What Is a Thigh Lift?

There are two types of thigh lifts available to those who wish to undergo the procedure. The technique your surgeon will use depends on the region of the thigh that needs to be contoured.

An inner thigh lift is performed on the inner thigh region. In this procedure, an incision is made on the area where the groin and the inner thigh meet. Excess fat and skin are removed and the skin is sutured back together.

A lateral thigh lift is performed on the outer thighs. Depending on the amount of fat and skin to be removed, the incision may extend from the groin to the hip and across the back. Excess fat and skin tissue will be removed and afterwards, the skin is re-draped over the incision site. Both the right and left sides of the thigh can be tightened with a lateral lift.

What are the Steps Involved?

The process begins with a consultation with your plastic surgeon. A detailed assessment of your weight, height, measurements of the thighs, other medical history if any, and medication history are some of the things that will be assessed. Your surgeon may order additional labs and diagnostics if required.

After the thigh lift procedure, the remaining skin will be draped over he incisions. They will be closed using sutures. You may be shifted to a recovery room following the procedure to monitor your condition.

If the procedure is performed at an outpatient facility, you may be sent home the same day. It is important for you to make arrangements with family or friends to help drive you home after the procedure.

The Recovery Process

Any initial discomfort you feel after the surgery will subside in a week to ten days. A full recovery may take between eight to ten weeks. Your surgeon will provide you with detailed instructions to follow after the procedure to help you take proper care of the surgical sites. If followed closely, you can ensure optimal healing.

After this period, you can resume normal activities and light exercise. You can also start driving and taking care of your normal day-to-day activities. Heavy weights and strenuous exercise should be avoided until after eight to ten weeks. Compression garments will have to be worn to help give your thighs shapely contours.

The results of the surgery are visible immediately after the surgery. You can now admire your youthful, firm, and toned thighs thanks to the thigh lift.
