Breast Augmentation Mammaplasty Preparation in Los Angeles

by | Mar 27, 2015

The days leading up to a breast augmentation, also known as an augmentation mammaplasty, are often filled with stress and anxiety.  This is frequently the case leading up to any kind of surgery, plastic, cosmetic, or otherwise.  This is a normal response considering this is an important life decision. In order to help ensure a smooth experience, here are some things to know for your augmentation mammaplasty preparation.  Dr. Kenneth Hughes typically performs breast augmentation with either breast implants or fat transfer (fat grafting).  For the breast implants, Dr. Hughes generally advises that somewhere between 150 cc to 200 cc represents a cup size.  Patients can select the size they would like as long as the breast imprint width can accommodate that implant size.  For the breast fat grafting or breast fat transfer, Dr. Hughes typically advises that 3/4 of a cup is about the most that this breast augmentation procedure can offer.

Following breast augmentation mammaplasty surgery, you’ll want to prepare for the critical days following surgery. Since it is important for you not to be alone for the first 24 to 48 hours after surgery, this requires some planning beforehand.  Though some patients may want to go to an aftercare facility, Dr. Kenneth Hughes does not recommend this.  There are nurses available who can be hired to take care of you at your home, hotel, or abode.  A responsible family member of friend is appropriate as well and can drive the patient from the surgery center after recovery.
