Preparing For Your Thighplasty Procedure

by | Dec 15, 2017

In the current society we live in, we constantly live under a lot of pressure to please the people around us and look our absolute best. When it comes to women, it is almost always about looking beautiful. Women are still defined a lot by the way they present themselves and as result, they find themselves stressed when their bodies do not meet their desires.

Among the factors that supposedly make a woman beautiful are fair, glowing skin, aquiline features, and a beautiful body with all the right curves and edges. Unfortunately, not everyone is perfect and it can be hard to achieve these ideal standards of beauty. But we still do our best to shape ourselves up in the best way possible so that we bear a close resemblance to what we consider perfect in the standards of beauty.

Women gain weight on various parts of their body due to a variety of factors such as hormonal fluctuations, pregnancy, childbirth, nursing, and so on. It is inevitable because a woman’s body is susceptible to all these changes.

Unfortunately, it is not always easy to lose this weight. Most of the women who suffer from these changes find that the excess fat will settle heavily near the chest and arms or the lower body on the upper thighs and buttocks. At times it may take a lot of time, proper diet, and proper exercises to burn the fat from these areas.

Fat that has accumulated on the thighs can irk a woman and make her think she is unattractive. Eventually, weight gain and aging can cause loose saggy skin, and a lot of excess thigh fat. While it is possible to reduce this with the help of a regular exercise routine, there are some who find that this method isn’t successful or they prefer a faster way out.

What is Thighplasty?

Thighplasty, also known as thigh lift, is a cosmetic procedure in which excess skin and fat is removed from around the inner or outer thighs. The surgery can help get rid of flabby excess skin and can make your thighs look thinner and your buttocks look more firm. It masks the appearance of cellulite and defines your body so that you have a firmer, more curvaceous body.

Precautions

The thigh lift is a simple cosmetic procedure that can take anywhere between one to three hours depending on your specific needs. You should always make sure that you proceed with the surgery under the direction of an experienced medical professional. Your doctor will ask for a detailed medical history and discuss your expectations with you so that he can customize a treatment according to your needs.

In the weeks leading up to the surgery, you will be asked to stop taking certain medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin, and also to refrain from smoking.

The Procedure

During a thigh lift, your surgeon will make incisions either along the groin or on the outside of your thighs. Incisions along the groin are to remove the excess fat and skin in the inner thighs. Performing the procedure on the outer thighs is a little bit more complex as your buttocks have to be tightened and contoured as well.

Incisions in case of the outer thigh will be more extensive and at times more visible. Your surgeon will try to mask the scars as much as possible, but it depends on the extent of the surgery.

Post-Operative Care

Most patients will notice changes almost immediately. It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes a proper diet and lots of exercise to maintain your weight. Your skin will not be as elastic as before and gaining too much weight can nullify the effects of the surgery.

A complete recovery may take up to a month and it is recommended that you refrain from any activity that involves a lot of physical exertion and can directly impact your thighs and buttocks.
