Breast Reconstruction
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, CA

Dr. Kenneth Hughes, Harvard-trained, board-certified plastic surgeon, is a published expert on both breast reconstruction and breast deformity correction. Breast reconstruction usually refers to the surgery that reconstructs or rebuilds the breasts after mastectomy surgery. However, there are a wide variety of breast deformities requiring reconstruction that can result from birth abnormalities, developmental abnormalities, and traumatic injuries in addition to deformities resulting from definitive breast cancer treatment such as lumpectomy or mastectomy. Finally, breast augmentation revision surgery from previous breast augmentation, breast lift, or cosmetic breast surgery may involve a total or near total breast reconstruction.

Cost
Breast reconstruction cost has a great deal of variability depending upon the need for breast implant placement, tissue and skin adjustment, or breast fat grafting. After a detailed and thorough consultation with Dr. Kenneth Hughes, an estimate for the cost of the breast reconstruction procedure will be generated for the patient.
Surgery Day
Your breast reconstruction surgery day will begin by arriving at the surgery center about 1 hour prior to the start of the surgery. You will be greeted by the registered nurse, and your vital signs will be taken. You will meet with our board-certified anesthesiologist, and you will meet with Dr. Hughes to finalize any surgical plans and ask any additional questions.
You will then be given relaxant medication, and you will be put to sleep by the anesthesiologist. The breast reconstruction surgery takes between two and four hours to perform. You will have some minimal dressings on your breasts, which are to remain intact.
Follow-up and Recovery
Patients will return for follow-up within 3 to 7 days. Patients can usually go back to work in about one week. Patients should avoid strenuous activity or exercise for at least 6 weeks. Incisions should be left dry and intact to ensure the best possible scarring. Patients who perform too much activity or who stretch or place tension on the incisions may open the incisions, which can result in a much wider scar or poor shape (which can necessitate a revision).
