Belotero Reduces Wrinkles and Fills In Lines

by | Oct 26, 2018

The aging process is something that none of us can avoid, and this process comes with wrinkles, fine lines, and other bodily changes that can make you look older. Thanks to innovations made in the realm of cosmetic surgery, however, there is an abundance of age-reversing products available that can restore your plump, youthful skin.

One such treatment is known as Belotero, and it is a dermal filler composed of hyaluronic acid and was designed to treat deep creases and small lines.  Dr. Kenneth Hughes, Los Angeles plastic surgeon, has injected Belotero and great number of other fillers for specific patient concerns.

A Dermal Filler Designed For Fine Lines

Since hyaluronic acid is found naturally within the skin, Belotero is a safe injectable treatment that can add volume and smooth out the skin’s surface. Once it is injected, it will bind with the water within your dermis and helps to fill in creases, lines, and wrinkles. It has also been seen to be effective in filling in the hollows that occur under the eyes.

It works by expanding at the region of injection to offer a smooth, crease-free superficial appearance. Apart from cosmetic benefits, HA serves a multitude of purposes ranging from promoting healthy hair to retaining skin moisture. HA is naturally produced in abundance during youth and the quantity decreases with age.

Target Areas For Belotero

Bolotero received its official FDA clearance in 2011 as a dermal filler to mitigate the appearance of laugh lines. Since then, the company has expanded to introduce the specified product to target other sensitive regions on the face.

In general, Belotero is used to restore volume in the region around the nose, eyes, and mouth; fill wrinkles in the forehead, correct bags under the eyes, improve specific acne scars, increase volume in the lips, and remove small bumps on the nose.

Dermal Fillers are Temporary But Can Provide Long-Lasting Results

The fact that dermal fillers are a temporary fix should not dissuade you from undergoing the procedure the procedure. In general, the result offered by Belotero lasts from six months to a year.

When the treatment is specific to a region with high muscle activity like around the mouth, the results fade faster. However, when Belotero is injected around the eyes, it can potentially last for 12 months or more.

Preparing for Belotero

Belotero is a straightforward procedure that requires minimal preparation. The only thing to bear in mind is to inform the doctor about the prescription medications you take. Specific medications like anti-inflammatory drugs must be avoided in the days leading to the procedure.

What To Expect With Belotero Procedure

Belotero is available in different formulations specific for the region of treatment. One common feature of all the products is the presence of lidocaine. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that effectively minimizes discomfort and pain.

Dr. Kenneth Hughes of Hughes Plastic Surgery recommends avoiding strenuous activity which induces sweating and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or aspirin for 48 hours after the injection.
